Objective 1 - Professional Development
The staff at Rocky Hill takes pride in the development of skill sets that enable us to facilitate better instruction and leadership, and to operate our school in an environmentally sound manner. The classes we take and seminars we attend are put to use on and off of school property - they add a richness and depth to our personal experience which translates well in classrooms and in the mindset of being part of a green school.
The diverse nature of our professional development and its documentation here provides us the opportunity to take a census of staff and all they have done as a green school organization. Classifying these endeavors into three categories brings order to the process and allows us to see how far we have come. The categories are:
Outdoor teaching skills
Leadership skills
Physical Plant skills
As part of our GreenSchool Re-certification efforts, all of our current staff have been apprised of our status and have been asked to contribute to a census of skills certification and training in the past four years.

Three Rocky Hill staff members took part in the first conference in July of 2012. Topics included integrated environmental education, Chesapeake Bay preservation and the study of the Bay as endangered habitat.
Attending the inaugural session were Nelia Duarte, Scott Molley, and Lelah Wilkerson.
Steve Whiting joined us in one of his final appearances as our principal.
